Mt. Nittany UMC

Senior Pastor:  Chris Passante

Christopher Kostyn Passante

“You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden.” (Matt. 5.14)

The first thing I really want you to know about me is that I LOVE JESUS.

The second is that I love seeing God moving in the lives of so many faithful through this body we call the Church. I am always so energized and ready to dream, worship and pray with you, and to watch all that God wills come to fruition in our lives, the life of this church, and the life of our community.

My prayer is that we will continue to exponentially share and expand the Light of Christ as a true City on a Hill.

My calling into ministry came after spending 20 years as a journalist. God began moving me from a writer and worship leader to a pastoral minister, having served as pastor at Trinity Church in Bellefonte and Grays UMC north of State College.

I graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, with a Master of Divinity degree and have a Master of Science degree in Communications from Clarion University of Pennsylvania as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

Prior to pastoral ministry, I was worship leader at Middlesex United Methodist Church near Carlisle, and at Bethel Church of the Nazarene as well as Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, both in State College.

I have two sons, Kostyn Orrie, 12, and Evan Thomas, 10, as well as an Australian shepherd, Chipper, and an incredibly sassy house cat, Moo-Moo, and we all live right here in beautiful Lemont.

I enjoy the outdoors — especially sailing and swimming at the area lakes and hiking, running, mountain biking and skiing in the mountains.  As a writer, I love hearing your stories; everyone has so many rich stories of family and faith!

For this very reason, I hold office hours both at the church and at Cafe Lemont (Thursdays 9-11). I’d love to hear your story and see where God is moving in your life.

I‘m so excited to meet every one of you and see what God has for us as we begin a new chapter in this story together!
