Senior Pastor: Ed Preston
The Rev. Ed Preston formally began his tenure at Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church in a Celebration of Pastoral Service held in the church on July 8, 2012.
Pastor Ed joined Mt. Nittany from the Mardorf United Methodist Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where he served for 16 years. Ed was raised in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia, and graduated from Upper Moreland High School. He attended Eastern University and graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Sociology. He earned a Master’s of Divinity from Lancaster Seminary. He has served churches in York, Nescopeck, Carlisle, and Altoona. While in Altoona, Pastor Ed served as an AYSO soccer coach, member of the Board of Directors of Family Services, Inc., and member of the Logan Township Planning Commission, among a variety of community leadership roles.
His wife, Donna, also was raised in Hatboro. She graduated from Millersville University with a teaching degree in elementary and special education. She taught in the Northeastern York School District for 10 years before the Prestons moved to Nescopeck. Donna directed the Mardorf Gap Care Before/After School Program for 15 years. While in Altoona, she served on the Allegheny Ballet Company Auxiliary, chaired the Juniata Gap Elementary Q-SITE committee and served as a volunteer tutor at the J-Gap school. Keeping her teaching certification current, she has earned a master’s equivalency and focuses additional learning in autism. Recently she earned her pre-school certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. She is the director of Mt. Nittany UMC Pre-school and Child Care and of Children’s Ministry.
