Mt. Nittany UMC
The members of Mt. Nittany Church share their blessings and Christian compassion within our church family, with the Centre County community, and with the greater world beyond. Whether it is through helping hands, financial partnering with local agencies, or simply being there for a person in need of a friend, our sense of outreach runs deep.
Within our church, for example, pastoral counseling and grief resources are provided for those who have suffered loss, fellowship is available to shut-ins wanting a bit of company, and Holy Communion is provided to elderly members unable to leave their homes. A growing network of small groups provide opportunities for sharing and fellowship as well as spiritual growth.
Active and community-minded, the church is a partner in the work of Interfaith Human Services, Housing Transitions, Inc., Centre County Women’s Resource Center, the State College Food Bank, Fuel Fund, and many other groups. Our Giving Garden, a place where volunteers can literally dig in and help, is a source of fresh and nutritious food for people in the State College area. And, our free Community Thanksgiving Dinner each year provides hundreds with a filling holiday meal and time for fellowship.
Further afield, teams from Mt. Nittany have helped Native Americans of the southern U.S. and Mississippi hurricane victims. Give Ye Them to Eat offers volunteers a chance to assist rural Mexican peoples with hands-on building and repair projects. Mt. Nittany Church also is active in the efforts of the Susquehanna Conference’s Mission Central, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), and more.
