Mt. Nittany UMC

GYTTE was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in rural areas of the country. The purpose of the “Give Ye Them to Eat” program (GYTTE) is to strengthen the capabilities of the people and their communities to meet their basic needs. The 2010 statistics show that more than 46 percent of the population in these villages live in poverty and more than 10 percent live in extreme poverty. The Methodist Church of Mexico and the supporters of the “Give Ye Them To Eat” ministry believe the GYTTE program offers rural people the development opportunities needed to remain together and on their lands. Informal education and training opportunities coupled with development tools like teaching manuals, construction plans and wooden forms to mold mud stove tops and other tools and supplies help to make this possible. People learn to help themselves as well as learn to teach others.  Mt. Nittany Church supports GYTTE through the hands-on service of its members and with donations.  Learn more about GYTTE
